If you have recently installed an update for WaveLab and then received a message that no valid license was found, your license has not yet been transferred to Steinberg Licensing. 

This is because the release of WaveLab 11.2 and WaveLab Cast 1.3 on February 28, 2023, completed the transition to Steinberg Licensing for the WaveLab family.

The eLicenser-based license system has been completely removed from the current versions of WaveLab. Licenses stored on a Soft-eLicenser or USB-eLicenser can no longer be used.

How can I transfer my license to Steinberg Licensing?

If you own a license for WaveLab 11 or WaveLab Cast, you can transfer it to Steinberg Licensing. For this purpose, we have provided all users of WaveLab 11 and WaveLab Cast with an upgrade voucher in the voucher section of MySteinberg.

Can I still use WaveLab 11.1 / WaveLab Cast 1.2 or older versions after upgrading to Steinberg Licensing?

WaveLab 11.1 and WaveLab Cast 1.2 have already introduced compatibility with Steinberg Licensing. These versions can use licenses in both Steinberg Licensing and the eLicenser-based licensing system. 

Older versions can still be used with the eLicenser-based license. After completing the upgrade to Steinberg Licensing, your WaveLab 11 license will remain on the Soft-eLicenser or USB-eLicenser and can thus continue to be used for older WaveLab versions.

However, these eLicenser-based licenses cannot be used for further updates / upgrades after an upgrade to Steinberg Licensing. Future updates will only be applied to your license activated in Steinberg Licensing.

There is no upgrade voucher displayed in my account! 

If you own a WaveLab 11 or WaveLab Cast license, but the voucher is missing in your MySteinberg account, please contact our support. We will check your request and provide you with an upgrade.

And what about new licenses?

If you redeem a Download Access Code for WaveLab 11 after June 1, 2022, you will automatically receive a Steinberg Licensing-based license. Saving the license on a USB-eLicenser or in a Soft-eLicenser is neither possible nor necessary in this case.
