Although the eLicenser service was discontinued on May 20, 2025, you can still update and upgrade your eLicenser-based licenses. This article contains all the information you need to complete the update or upgrade successfully.
Requirements for the update / upgrade
Before proceeding with the update, make sure that the eLicenser containing the license you wish to update is registered in your MySteinberg account.
Since the eLicenser service has been discontinued, eligibility for updates is determined based on the licenses associated with your registered eLicensers, rather than on the eLicensers connected to your computer.

Once you made sure that your eLicenser is registered, you can proceed with the update:
Step-by-step instructions
- Go to the product page of the product you wish to update.
- Click the "Buy" button.
- Select the product you wish to purchase.
- Switch to the "Updates & upgrades" tab.
- Select the update or upgrade matching the license you own.
If you are not sure which update to select, check the eLicenser registration in your MySteinberg account or open the eLicenser Control Center to see your licenses' exact name. - Complete the purchase.
Once your purchase is complete, you will receive an email containing your order information, including the "Download Access Code" needed to activate the update or upgrade.
- Open the Steinberg Download Assistant.
- Click "Redeem Code".
- Enter the Download Access Code you received after completing the purchase.
- Click "OK".
The Steinberg Download Assistant will now let you know if a registered eLicenser with an updatable license was found. - Confirm, that you want to proceed with the update.
This completes the update. You can now download and install your new software from the "My Products" section in the Steinberg Download Assistant.
With the transition to the new licensing system, your updated license will appear in the Steinberg Activation Manager instead of the eLicenser Control Center.
Alternative: Redeem the update without the Steinberg Download Assistant
- Sign in to your MySteinberg account.
- Select "Products" on the left.
- Click "Redeem Code".
- Enter the Download Access Code you received after completing the purchase.
A pop-up will now let you know if a registered eLicenser with an updatable license was found. - Confirm, that you want to proceed with the update.
This completes the update. You can now download and install your new software from the "My Products" section in the Steinberg Download Assistant.
