Graphical user interface overview
1 Redeem Code
- Enter the Download Access Codes you've received after a purchase here. The Steinberg Download Assistant will list the corresponding download choices and guide you through the license activation process.
- You can also enter a still unused Activation Code for older Steinberg products. Activation Codes have been used for older products with eLicenser-based licenses. If a newer version of the corresponding product exists that uses Steinberg Licensing technology, you will receive a license for the latest version for free. If not, the Activation Code unfortunately cannot be used anymore.
2 Settings
-
Download directory
Set the default download folder here. Your operating system's download folder is the standard path. When a product is selected under a category on the left (6), an individual "Target folder" (which means download folder, too) can also be set above the list of download choices (4). -
Download Settings
You can limit the download speed and set the maximum number of parallel downloads here. -
Optional Runtime Components
If you use old Steinberg software that is using eLicenser-based licensing technology, check this option and restart the Steinberg Download Assistant. The eLicenser Control Center will be then installed. Alternatively, you can download the installer here.
3 My Account
Log in to and log out of your MySteinberg account here.
Always make sure you are signed in to the right account, particularly when redeeming Download Access Codes or Activation Codes.
To manage your MySteinberg account, click here.
4 Target folder
The "Target folder" is the location where the downloads via the Steinberg Download Assistant are saved. It can be set individually for each product. To specify the default download folder, go to "Settings" (2) and set the "Download directory".
The "Target folder" setting does not affect the installation path.
To change the installation path for sound content files (vstsound), please open the Steinberg Library Manager, click on the gear icon at the top right, and set the "Library default location".
When installing sound content via the Steinberg Download Assistant, the corresponding files will at first be downloaded to the "Target Folder". After the download is completed, the content will be moved to the "Library default location" defined in the Steinberg Library Manager. If both folders match, there is no need to move the sound files, which can speed up the installation of large libraries.
5 Operating system selector
By default, the Steinberg Download Assistant shows downloads for the current operating system, but you can switch to another if required.
6 Categories
All products for which downloads are available are listed under these categories.
-
Updates
This category only includes Steinberg software installed on your system for which updates are available.
It can take a moment until the category shows up, because the Steinberg Download Assistant needs some time to check your system. -
