Problem
The Steinberg Download Assistant does not start on a Mac.
Background
Damaged font files installed on macOS can prevent the Steinberg Download Assistant from starting.
Solution
Option 1: Remove the damaged font using Font Book
Please follow these steps to remove the damaged font file from your system:
- Open the "Font Book" application from "Applications".
- Select all fonts (command + A).
- Right-click on the selected fonts and choose "Validate" from the contextual menu that opens.
- The "Font Validation" window opens, showing the validation result. Damaged fonts are marked with a red exclamation mark.
- In case a damaged font file has been found, find it in the list of installed fonts in Font Book's main window.
- Right-click on the damaged font and select "Deactivate" or "Remove" from the contextual menu that opens.
The Steinberg Download Assistant should now work properly again.
Option 2: Restore the system fonts using Font Book
Alternatively, you can restore the fonts that were originally included in macOS using Font Book. Instructions on how this is done can be found on Apple's support pages. Make sure to select your OS version, as the steps to achieve this may differ.
