On August 4, 2026, with the release of HALion Sonic Play for iPadOS, iOS, and Android, we are introducing a new, significantly expanded workstation experience with about 900 additional sounds, standalone use, and AUv3 plug‑in support for compatible mobile DAWs.
At the same time, once HALion Sonic Play is released, the existing HALion Sonic Selection Cubasis in-app purchase will no longer be offered for purchase.

What is HALion Sonic Play?
HALion Sonic Play is a new mobile app that delivers a full mobile workstation experience, including:
- Close to 2,000 instrument sounds for all genres
- Standalone use on iPhone and iPad
- AUv3 plug-in support for compatible DAWs, e.g., Cubasis, AUM, Logic Pro for iPad, GarageBand, and more
- Arpeggiator for instant motion and patterns
- Quick Controls for fast sound shaping
- A dedicated ADSR page for quick envelope control
What is HALion Sonic Selection?
HALion Sonic Selection is an in-app purchase inside Cubasis that includes +1,100 sounds. HALion Sonic Selection can only be used in Cubasis.

I already own HALion Sonic Selection. Do I need to buy HALion Sonic Play?
If you want the standalone app, AUv3 support, and the new features (arpeggiator, ADSR page, Quick Controls workflow), then yes—HALion Sonic Play is a separate product.
If you’re happy using the +1,100 sounds inside Cubasis, you can continue using HALion Sonic Selection as before.
Will HALion Sonic Selection still work for existing owners?
Yes. If you already own the HALion Sonic Selection in-app purchase, you can continue to use it in Cubasis as you do today.
Will HALion Sonic Selection still be available to buy?
No. Once HALion Sonic Play is released, the HALion Sonic Selection will no longer be offered.
This is intended to avoid confusion and to keep the product lineup clear.
Is there an update/upgrade from HALion Sonic Selection to HALion Sonic Play?
No. We want to be fully transparent here:
- HALion Sonic Play and HALion Sonic Selection are separate apps.
- Neither the App Store nor the Play Store provides a mechanism to convert an in-app purchase from one app into ownership of another app.
In other words, HALion Sonic Selection doesn’t "turn into" HALion Sonic Play, and there is no upgrade path.
Can I use HALion Sonic Selection in other DAWs for iPadOS/iOS like AUM, Logic Pro, or GarageBand?
No. HALion Sonic Selection is tied to Cubasis.
If you want to use these sounds in other mobile DAWs for iPadOS/iOS, HALion Sonic Play is the solution. It can be used standalone and is compatible with AUv3.
How can I restore HALion Sonic Selection after switching devices? ?
Please use the standard purchase recovery options, for example, "Restore purchases" inside Cubasis. This ensures Cubasis can recheck and restore eligible in-app purchases linked to your store account.
Where can I get HALion Sonic Play?
- On iOS/iPadOS, HALion Sonic Play is available as a separate app in Apple's App Store.
- On Android, HALion Sonic Play is available as a Cubasis in-app purchase.
