Problem

When the visible area of a Cubase or Nuendo project contains a Sampler Track, GUI flickering occurs during zooming and scrolling and other graphically demanding actions.

Only Mac laptops with Pro Motion Display running macOS Ventura version 13.3.1 and later appear to be affected.

Background

According to Apple, this is related to a bug in macOS Ventura. It is currently not possible to say when it will be fixed.

Workaround

The flickering no longer occurs when the refresh rate of the display is set to 60 Hz or lower:

• Access the “System Settings...” via the Apple menu in the upper left corner.
• Select “Displays” on the left side.
• On the right side, set the “Refresh rate” from “Pro Motion” to “60 Hz”.

Please note that with this setting, all apps will no longer render with Pro Motion.
