Problem
When Cubase is launched, the startup process is interrupted with the following error message:
Unrecoverable Error
The application has to be shut down because of a serious graphic driver related issue.
If this problem persists please write down the following error code and contact Steinberg Technical Support.

Background
The issue occurs when the “Smooth Motion” feature is enabled in the Global Settings of the Nvidia App on RTX 40-series (and newer) graphics cards.
Solution
- Open the Nvidia App.
- Go to the section "Graphics" on the left.
- Switch to the tab "Global Settings".
- Set „Smooth Motion“ to "Off".
If you want to use this feature in specific applications, such as video games, you can re-enable it under “Program Settings” for selected programs.
