In May 2025, the eLicenser-based license management system was discontinued. Although you can still use USB-eLicenser and Soft-eLicenser as they are, you can no longer modify the licenses they contain. So, what's the point of registering unregistered eLicensers now?
Why should I still register my eLicenser in MySteinberg?
Upgrading an eLicenser-based product to a new Steinberg Licensing based version requires the old license to be registered in your MySteinberg account. Redeeming the purchased update/upgrade Download Access Code in the Steinberg Download Assistant will check the eligibility and provide the new license.
Important: licenses on the eLicensers that have been utilized for an upgrade are identified as such and are not eligible for re-use on different accounts (e.g. by moving USB-eLicensers to another account or deleting accounts to release the USB-eLicenser).

You can register your eLicenser directly in the “Licensed Devices” section of your MySteinberg account.
If you do not know the required eLicenser number yet, please open the eLicenser Control Center on your system. As shown in the screenshot below, detected eLicensers and their numbers are listed in the left column.

On your system, there might be a single eLicenser listed only- or even multiple USB-eLicensers.
You don't need to write down the number. Use the "Registration" menu of the eLicenser Control Center to copy the eLicenser number into MySteinberg. This works best if you've already logged in to MySteinberg before.
As soon as the registration has been completed, the registered eLicenser as well as all licenses on it are listed in your MySteinberg account under “Licensed Devices”.
