To simplify matters, Cubase AI and Cubase LE 4, 5 and 6 will be referred to as 'Cubase' hereafter.
Problem
The registration of Cubase via MySteinberg fails. After entering the number of the Soft-eLicenser during the registration, no activation code is being provided.
Solution
Basically, this is an installation issue which can be solved by uninstalling and reinstalling Cubase properly. The necessary steps in detail:
Windows
- Close all programs.
- Uninstall Cubase via Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- Uninstall 'eLicenser Control' in the same way.
- Download the latest eLicenser Control Center for your Windows version.
- To start the eLicenser Control Center installation, right-click on the downloaded file 'eLicenserControlSetup.exe' and select 'Run as administrator' from the contextual menu.
- After the installation has been completed, reinstall Cubase using the original installation medium.
- Finally, install the latest update for your Cubase version. The updates are available on our Download page.
- Now the registration of your Cubase version in MySteinberg should succeed.
Mac OS X
- Close all programs.
- Uninstall Cubase by moving the Cubase icon from the 'Applications' folder to the Trash.
- Download the latest eLicenser Control Center for your Mac OS X version.
- Double-click the downloaded file 'eLicenserControl.dmg' to mount the disk image.
- In the newly opened window, run the 'eLC-Uninstaller.app' first.
- Afterwards, start the installation of the eLicenser Control Center by double-clicking 'eLicenserControlSetup.app'
- After the installation has been completed, reinstall Cubase using the original installation medium.
