When installing the Yamaha Steinberg USB driver on macOS High Sierra (10.13) initially, the following warning message appears:
[ System Extension Blocked A program tried to load new extensions signed by "Yamaha Corporation".
If you want to enable these extensions, go to the Security & Privacy System Preference pane. ]
Apple changed the standard installation procedure in macOS 10.13 and added a new security mechanism. The initial installation of kernel extensions (short: KEXTs) by 3rd party developers now generally requires confirmation by the user.
The additional security step is only necessary when installing the Yamaha Steinberg USB driver for the first time on macOS High Sierra. If you already have installed the driver before you've updated to macOS High Sierra, future driver updates will complete without confirmation in the the Security & Privacy preference pane.
- Do not close the 'System Extension Blocked' warning message.
- According to the message go to system preferences and open the 'Security & Privacy' preference pane.
- At the bottom right of the preference pane, next to the hint 'System software from developer "Yamaha Corporation" was blocked from loading.', click on the 'Allow' button.
The driver installation will now be completed.
