eLicenser Control Center: api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll missing

Problem

The eLicenser Control Center cannot be started or installed. An error message appears informing that the file 'api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll' is missing.

Solution

  • If you already have installed the eLicenser Control Center, please go to Control Panel > Programs and Features to uninstall it.
  • As described in this Microsoft article, please use 'Windows Update' to update your Windows installation properly. Please note that it might be necessary to reboot your system several times until all Windows updates have been installed completely. 
  • Afterwards, download and install the latest eLicenser Control Center.
